About this policy

This policy explains how Teachme2do AI Tutor ("the app"), published in the Microsoft Store by DocumentIQ (M.C. Jayasinghe, Australia) ("we", "us"), handles information. The app is for Windows 11 PCs.

1. Summary

  • Your documents and learning data are stored on your computer.
  • There is no Teachme2do server. Nothing is sent to us.
  • When you use an AI feature, the content needed for that request is sent directly from your computer to OpenAI using your own API key.
  • The app contains no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising or tracking.
  • We do not sell personal information.

2. What is stored on your computer

The app stores its data in %LOCALAPPDATA%\com.teachme2do.aitutor in your Windows user profile. This includes: a database with your study profile, subjects, conversations, notes, practice, marks and settings; the documents and photos you add; backups (in the "backups" folder); a technical log (errors and status only, with API keys removed); and a display cache.

The app does not add its own encryption to this folder. It is protected by your Windows account, so anyone who can sign in to that Windows account can open it.

When photos are added, the app turns them upright and removes camera information, including GPS location, on your computer.

3. Your OpenAI API key

Your key is stored in Windows Credential Manager (as "com.teachme2do.aitutor.openai"), which Windows protects for the signed-in user. It is never stored in the database, files, logs or backups, is shown only as its last four characters, and is sent only to OpenAI. An optional parent PIN can protect settings and the key.

4. Information sent to OpenAI

Only when you use an AI feature (for example asking the tutor, having a page read, marking, practice or notes), the app sends directly from your computer to OpenAI's API, over an encrypted connection and using your own key: your question or the work to be marked; the parts of your documents needed for that request (scanned pages, photos and diagrams as images, other pages as text), including any names or marks visible in them; recent messages in the same conversation; and your study context (level and, if entered, country and curriculum).

Your first name is sent only if a parent turns on "Let the tutor use the student's first name" (off by default).

The app asks OpenAI not to store responses (store: false). OpenAI processes this data under your own OpenAI account and its own terms and privacy policy (https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy), and it may be processed outside your country. We do not receive or control this data. Avoid adding documents with sensitive personal information you do not want sent to OpenAI.

5. Backups

Backups are stored inside the app's data folder. If you choose "Save copy to Documents", backup copies are also saved to Documents\Teachme2do Backups. If your Documents folder syncs to OneDrive or a similar service, that service will receive those copies. Your data exists only on your computer unless you save a copy, so keeping backups is your responsibility.

6. Uninstalling and deleting your data

Microsoft Store version: the app is designed so that updates, uninstalling and reinstalling do not delete the data folder. This behaviour has not yet been confirmed by installed-package testing. Uninstalling the Store version should therefore not be relied on to delete your data.

Separately downloaded installer (EXE) version: the data folder is kept unless you tick "Delete the application data" in the uninstaller (unticked by default). Ticking it deletes the whole data folder, including the backups inside it. It does not delete copies in Documents or the key in Credential Manager.

To delete everything, remove the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\com.teachme2do.aitutor, any copies in Documents\Teachme2do Backups, and remove the key in the app (Settings → Remove key).

7. Other network activity outside the app's control

Windows and the Microsoft Store contact Microsoft for installation, updates and licensing, and Windows updates the Edge WebView2 component. The separately downloadable EXE installer may download WebView2 from Microsoft if it is missing. Links you click (for example the "Report" link) open your own browser or email app.

8. Microsoft Store

Purchases are handled by Microsoft; we do not receive your payment details. Microsoft gives publishers aggregate reports such as installs, ratings and crash counts from Windows Error Reporting. That data comes from Windows and the Store, depending on your Windows diagnostic settings, not from the app.

9. Children and students

The app is for students aged 13 and over. Students under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission, as OpenAI's terms require, and a parent should hold the OpenAI account and key.

10. Your rights and contact

Because we do not receive your app data, requests about data sent to OpenAI should go to OpenAI, and purchase data to Microsoft. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access or delete information. Contact us at support@teachme2do.com with any privacy question.

11. Changes

We may update this policy and will post the new version on this page.
